Our progressive material builds upon itself through age-appropriate units, allowing students to develop a deeper understanding of digital wellness as they advance through their education journey. Starting with foundational concepts in elementary school, students gradually explore more complex topics and practical strategies as they progress to middle school, high school, and beyond. Each grade level's material is thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are in their digital development while preparing them for the challenges ahead.

Digital Wellness Basics (Grades TK+ / 10 Lessons / 2.5 Hours)
Students will explore the fundamental brain science behind technology and the role of dopamine. This unit examines how digital interactions affect our emotions and psychological well-being, focusing on the brain's response to technology. By the end of the unit, students will clearly understand how technology use impacts their emotional experiences.

Digital Wellness Intermediate (Grades 3+ / 11 Lessons / 2.75 Hours)
Building upon the foundational concepts, this unit explores the relationship between technology, mental health, and adolescent development. Students will gain practical insights into the psychological impact of digital engagement during critical developmental stages. The unit helps students understand how technology intersects with personal growth and emotional well-being. For grades 6 and up, the unit includes two additional lessons, extending the total duration to 3.25 hours.

Digital Wellness Advanced (Grades 6+ / 19 Lessons / 4.75 Hours)
This unit investigates adolescent-specific topics, including the neurological impacts of modern screen technology and its ongoing evolution. Students will explore how technology influences cognitive processes, social relationships, and personal development during key developmental periods.

Media Literacy (Grades 3-8 / 8 Lessons / 2 Hours)
Designed for 3rd-8th graders, this unit develops critical thinking skills for navigating digital content. Students will learn to analyze media message construction, effectively use search engines and websites, and distinguish between legitimate news, misleading content, and paid advertising. The material in this unit addresses state media literacy mandates in California, Delaware, New Jersey, and Texas.

Parent Ed Presentation
A 90-minute parent ed presentation in person or virtually that presents digital wellness issues in a format that can be relayed to and understood by kids. Presentations include the latest data, studies, expert insights, and tools to help families form and maintain a healthy relationship with technology.

Student Assembly
Our 45-minute elementary assembly was developed by DopaMind co-founder and kids’ science communicator Bethany Barton and is designed to get kids excited about digital wellness in a high-energy, fun, engaging format to deliver the basics on digital wellness principles using facts, humor and empathy. A youth digital wellness activist will join a DopaMind educator to lead a 45-minute adolescent assembly to educate and inspire students about digital wellness in an authentic, honest presentation.
